Students from Kuss Middle School, along with their mentors and SMILES group leaders, visited the statehouse on January 15, 2019 to participate in Youth Mentoring Day!

The event offered students a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the legislative process, as Rep. Alan Silvia took them on a tour of the statehouse, taught them about the process of how a bill moves through the house to become law, and answered their questions. The group also met Representatives Carole Fiola and Paul Schmid and the Chief of Staff for Senator Michael Rodrigues, Karen Almeida, who they thanked for supporting mentoring programs in the state.

The event highlighted the importance of youth mentoring programs and the positive impact they have on students.

It only takes one hour a week to make a difference! If you are interested in becoming a SMILES mentor, contact Christine Lapointe at clapointe@peopleinc-fr.org or 774-627-2438.
