People Incorporated opens the Infinity Library at the Family Support Center
Space dedicated to accommodate members of the neuro-diverse community
Fall River (February 27, 2024) – People Incorporated announces the opening of the Infinity Library, located at the Agency’s Family Support Center at 1 Father DeValles Blvd., Suite 401, in Fall River. Originally conceptualized by Sam Freitas, a People Incorporated employee, the space was made possible through the Agency’s facilities team, Family Support Center staff, and a $5,000 grant from the Fall 2023 Matouk Company Fund of the SouthCoast Community Foundation.
Designed to be friendly to young people and those from the neuro-diverse community, such as individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the space features a variety of reading materials, reading corners, and sensory items for all ages. Special lighting and furnishing has been installed with these individuals in mind, creating a soft and welcoming environment.
“This is all Sam,” said Megan Stirk, President & CEO of People Incorporated, referring to Freitas, who drew the concept of the Infinity Library from a library with similar objectives in Dubai. “Everything you see in this room, whether it’s the type of books, the colors of the room, all the decorations, and the games along the wall – that was all Sam. He had this vision. It truly operates as a traditional library would, too.” Freitas himself lives with ASD.
While the environment is conducive to those who may need special accommodations, the Infinity Library is open to all. Its hours of operation are Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, and Thursday and Friday, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
