2019 Employee Recognition Dinner
On December 13, 2019 we celebrated our employees at our Agency’s annual Employee Recognition Dinner. Held at White’s of Westport, the evening began with a welcome from President & CEO Megan Scheffer, who thanked employees for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.
Following the welcome, Chief Operating Officer Bill Perkins named the recipients of this year’s longevity awards. More than 80 employees were recognized for reaching milestone anniversaries with the Agency, ranging from 5 to 35 year tenures. Ida-May Pierce, who received a longevity award for 35 years of service has announced that she will be retiring at the end of December. Ida took a moment to address the crowd and express how much she has enjoyed working to support the individuals we serve.
After the conclusion of the longevity awards, Chief Financial Officer Elizabeth Machado announced our 2020 scholarship winners. The ten winners, including Natalia Arraiol, Cody Barros, Peter Bertelli, Cory Costa, Peter Daley, Diana DeSouza, Sevana Ferreira, Alexandra Murphy, Michele Varanese-Lima, and Nicole Vickery, each received between $500 and $1,500 to help support their efforts of furthering their education.
The final award presentation of the night was to announce our Agency’s 2019 Employee of the Year. Residential Director Susan Raposa took to the podium to name Rebecca Mello as the winner of this honor, describing how Rebecca was nominated for being an employee who “has exemplified compassion, accountability, and dedication in her role” and has been “recognized by guardians and family members as someone who has gone above and beyond to support their loved ones.”
After the awards ceremony, attendees enjoyed dinner and a night of dancing. We would like to congratulate all of our award recipients and thank all of the staff, managers, board members, and guests who attended to help us celebrate the remarkable work our employees do each day!
