Jack Rua Invitational raises over $60k for The Jack Rua Camp for Children with Diabetes
On Tuesday, September 12, People Incorporated held its annual Jack Rua Invitational at Crestwood Country Club in Rehoboth. The golf tournament raises funds to support the Jack Rua Camp for Children with Diabetes, a program of the Diabetes Association, Inc., which is an affiliate organization of People Incorporated. With over 60 sponsors, the event raised over $60,000, which assists with operating “Camp Jack” each summer.
After registration of the 136 golfers, the day began with an outdoor grilled lunch followed by a shotgun start of the scramble tournament at noon.
The 2023 Jack Rua Invitational winning foursome with a score of 59 consisted of Justin Carvalho, Justin Cohen, Mike Dolan, and Jeremy Provost, which was sponsored by The Lopes Companies.
Among the on-course contests, the tournament featured two hole-in-one contests (a $10,000 prize sponsored by Rua-Dumont-Audet Insurance Agency and a Toyota bZ4X electric SUV prize sponsored by Toyota of Dartmouth), along with an on-the-turn Cornhole contest.
The men’s Longest Drive contest winner was Jaxon Farina from Mutual of America; Paula Dineen took the Longest Drive title for the women. Closest to the Pin contest winners were Andrew McNaught of East Bay Pharmacy, Rene Lachapelle of RALCO Electric & Generator, and Debbie McMahon of Spindle City Insulation.
For the putting contest, all golfers who sunk a put were entered into a raffle to win a Yeti cooler donated by Mechanics Cooperative Bank. The winner of that raffle was Jaxon Farina from Mutual of America.
The event concluded with a gathering at the country club’s outdoor patio, where players bid on impressive silent auction, live auction, and raffle package items while enjoying passed appetizers and a self-serve nacho, pizza, and taco station.
“We always enjoy the Jack Rua Invitational, and this year was another successful event. We were especially happy to see all of our friends and supporters on the course in such beautiful weather,” said People Incoporated President & CEO Megan Stirk, who was also a participant golfer. “We’re very proud of what Camp Jack does for youth with diabetes, and the players and sponsors know that their support goes directly to the children we serve.”
